Clean Energy Storage: Chemical and Electrochemical Strategies

The rapid increase in renewable energy use, with major players like

RFB

California at the fore, requires large-scale energy storage devices. Clean, non-carbon based chemical fuels are needed for the transportation sector, whereas large-scale stationary power storage is needed for the grid. Dr. Menard will describe his lab's research is addressing energy storage for both transportation and stationary power. His research is guided by sustainable chemical principles.

Menard, Dr. Gabriel

Dr. Gabriel Menard joined the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UCSB in 2015 after completing his post-doctoral studies at Harvard University and his Ph.D. at the University of Toronto. In addition to the standard chemistry training, Dr. Menard also received a Masters in Environmental Studies at York University in Toronto, where his research focused on the impacts of climate change as well as the role of environmental Non-Governmental Organizations in developing countries. Dr. Menard's research group at UCSB primarily focuses on new approaches to clean energy storage.
