Probing the Frontiers of the Nanoscale with Multiple AFMs
Atomic force probes (AFPs) now permit electrical characterization on the nanoscale with multiple probes. A relative of atomic force microscopes (AFMs), the AFP uses tungsten needles to revolutionize the measurement of nanoscale semiconductor device properties. Multiprobe, Inc., located in Santa Barbara, develops and manufactures the world's highest resolution AFPs. Companies use their instruments to characterize the smallest, high performance semiconductor devices on integrated circuits. Multiprobe won the "best in show" award for best solution to a problem and most innovative product at the 2004 Solid State Technology's Semicon West conference in San Jose. Come and learn more about this breakthrough product!

From the President: This month we welcome Amy Yoshida of Goleta, Erwin Basinski and Keith Martin, Esq., of Santa Barbara as individual members. Our members are the backbone of SEC and the focus of our monthly discussions of current scientific and engineering developments. Thanks again to all of you who have renewed your memberships and donated to SEC's scholarship fund. 2005 has become a banner year for the SEC, and we are still accepting contributions. Please join us in March.
