Changes in the Local Technical Job Market for 2005:
How Local Companies Are Hiring - What Jobs Are Hot and What Jobs Are Not
The job market is better for some positions than it was last year for two reasons. More companies are hiring and fewer people are looking for jobs because they have either found a job (even if outside their specialty) or they have moved to a lower cost city. Even though the unemployment rate in Santa Barbara is almost as low as it was in the boom times of the year 2000, the mix of unemployed professions is different than in 2000. Many companies have started to fill key positions in preparation for the growth expected in year 2005. Come and learn more!
------PRESENTER------
Gary Kravetz, MSEE, CA Professional Engineer
CEO of Santa Barbara Staffing and NCC Executive Search
Gary Kravetz is CEO of Santa Barbara Staffing & NCC Executive Search. These two companies placed over 1,000 employees in new jobs last year. Most of these jobs were technical or technical support positions. About half of NCC job openings are local and the rest are elsewhere in CA. NCC is the largest executive search firm on the Central Coast and specializes in technical and executive positions. Prior to his last ten years as a recruiter, Gary was an engineering manager at Hughes Aircraft and at his own engineering design company.
