SPECIAL TECHNOLOGY ASSIGNMENT BY THE DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE TO THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH KOREA

This presentation will focus on a special assignment conducted for the Commanding General, Army Materiel Command, to South Korea. This assignment focused on using Internet and Collaborative Environment (CE) technologies to more efficiently plan, train, and conduct military operations. Consultation and recommendations were also provided to improve command, control, and communications. The presentation will provide a summary of these activities.

Additionally, several unique photographs on both the north and south border of the DMZ will be shown. All information presented is part of the public domain.

John D. Illgen

John D. Illgen is Vice President and Director of Northrop Grumman Simulation Technologies Corporation. Since 1988 Mr. Illgen was President and Chairman of the Board of Illgen Simulation Technologies, Inc. (Illgen) until the merger with Northrop Grumman on Dec. 15, 2003. Mr. Illgen is the Founder of Illgen and Co-Founder of Goleta National Bank and Community West BancShares. Mr. Illgen is directly involved in and known for using unique skills for Military Transformation. His experience includes assignments to South Korea, focusing on joint and combined training using simulation.

Mr. Illgen received an MSEE from the Royal Technical University of Denmark. He graduated from the Stanford University/American Electronics Association Executive Institute for Management of High Technology Companies.
