Pipeline Construction Project From the Caspian Sea (Kazakhstan) to the Black Sea

Rod Smith
retired engineer with Chevron

Rod was the Operations Representative to the Engineering Contractor (a Russian firm). They did the engineering based on Rod's decisions on what was needed. Working woth the Russians provided lots of challenges! In addition to describing the project, Rod will give some insight to Russian life and living in Russia.

During 34 years with Chevron, Rod held many position worldwide, finishing with four years on the Caspian Sea pipeline project. He graduated from UC Davis in 1965 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He served two years with the Army in Alaska before joining Chevron.
