Applications for Tunable Lasers

Historically, fiber optic networks used only a single wavelength. As bandwidth requirements increased dramatically, tunable lasers were created to use more wavelengths. This talk will describe how Agility Communications designs and manufactures widely tunable lasers that enable the use of up to 200 channels over a single strand of fiber optic cable.

From the Co-Presidents: This month Mary Howe-Grant steps down as Co-President of the SEC. We are grateful for her term and a half as Co-President and her many years of significant contribution to the SEC. Fortunately, Wayne Rothermich will step in as Co-President and Mary will continue as a Director and we will continue to benefit from her support and insight. The SEC grows through the support of its members and the people who are willing to act as officers and directors. We encourage anyone who has an interest in science or engineering to follow Mary's example and become active in the SEC.
