Trauma Center On The Central Coast:
Now And In The Future
Trauma is a significant public health problem. Three sequential peaks of trauma mortality have been
defined: Deaths at the scene, early deaths, and late deaths. An approach to improving trauma outcomes must
address each of these.
Kenneth Waxman, MD, Director of Surgical Education - Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, will discuss the
current status of trauma care in Santa Barbara and the Tri-Counties, the progress that has been made to
date, and what the future might hold. In addition, he will discuss current trauma research.
The public is invited. Come and learn more!
